Registration is at North Ribblesdale Rugby Club in Settle, which is right next door to Greenfoot public car park, BD24 9QH. There are toilets and changing facilities here too.

From the south, come into Settle off the A65 roundabout, under the railway bridge, turn right at the Falcon Manor Hotel and follow the road down and round to the car park and rugby club.

From the north, come through Settle, past the Peugeot garage on the left, down the hill, turn left at the Falcon Manor Hotel and follow the road down and round to the car park and rugby club.

FRA rules apply, and kit requirement is as follows: FULL FRA kit, ie. waterproof jacket and trousers, map, compass, whistle. There will be checks! We will make changes to this rule on the day if the weather is glorious of course.  It is also strongly recommended that runners carry some water – especially if the weather is hot.

If you retire, you MUST report back to race control at the rugby club. Please, please, do this, as nobody wants to spend hours out hunting for people who are already enjoying a nice hot bath at home!

Terrain and map: The senior race has a bit of everything – grassy paths, tarmac at the beginning and end, rocky paths, tussocky moorland and it includes some steep climbs and descents. The terrain is very uneven in places. It’s an enjoyable route. For a map of the course (PDF), route map of the Settle Hills race.  The biggest descent is off High Hill towards the end, and there is a water /first aid station at the bottom of this hill at the road crossing.

There’s lots for the family to do whilst the race is on – Settle town centre is a short walk away and for those making a weekend of it, there is plenty of accommodation locally - details of attractions and places to stay from Settle Tourist Information Centre (Tel: 01729 825192). Accommodation run by Settle Harriers members includes Woodlands (self-catering in Settle for large groups) and The Willows (B&B in Horton-in-Ribblesdale).

For further details, contact Jan Wulf, Tel: 01729 825547, email:janwulf@totalise.co.uk

Good luck and hope you enjoy the race!
