| Welcome to the Settle Harriers web site |
| Settle Harriers is a small club based at the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales in the North Craven area, in the towns of Settle, Ingleton and Hellifield. Founded in 1987, we are a growing club with about forty active members. Although most of our members are fell runners we enter several road, trail and cross country races throughout the year. As a club we organise two fell races (Pen-y-Ghent Fell Race and Settle Hills Race) and are involved with the organisation of several others in the locality. Being a small club almost all the members have some responsibility for some aspect of the everyday running of the organisation and everyone “mucks in” to ensure that all goes smoothly. We value everyone’s contribution and take pride in the fact that families have found the club’s atmosphere welcoming and for a large percentage of our club roll. Our training night is on a Wednesday. In the winter this takes the form of sessions on the minor roads from different villages in North Craven. In summer they mainly consist of sessions on the hills and fells, with some orienteering events, again in the North Craven area, starting and finishing at one of the local pubs. See the detailed schedule of runs. We welcome new members of any age or ability and the training runs are always adapted to the make-up of the group with gentler, more social sessions for some, with the more experienced doing more and faster, but with all meeting in the pub later. We have a thriving intra-club championship taking in races of different types and distances.
